Awareness of the importance of the gut microbiota and its role in the health has grown in parallel with research on the subject. Over the past five years, Gut Microbiota for Health has contributed to this awareness not only through its website and digital ecosystem, but also through its annual Gut Microbiota for Health World Summit, specifically addressed to clinical scientists and healthcare professionals.
This initiative was born in parallel to the creation of the “Gut Microbiota & Health” section within the European Society of Neurogastroenterology and Motility (ESNM), with the commitment of European and international experts on the subject. It is with these words that Prof. Fernando Azpiroz (President of ESNM’s “Gut Microbiota & Health” section) wraps up his editorial for our soon-to-be-released publication, “Year at a Glance 2017.”
Between 2012 and 2017, the GMFH publishing team followed the news about gut microbiota, relayed the latest scientific articles, interviewed doctors and researchers, and created infographics and other resources. Our team is proud to have created and published online more than 1,000 resources on the gut microbiota – and most importantly, to be the platform that has become one of the digital reference sources of the field. The Gut Microbiota for Health World Summit has had 6 editions, alternating between Europe and the USA, welcoming around 300 renowned experts each year.
