It is known that disruption of gut microbiota by use of antibiotics makes individuals more vulnerable to Clostridium difficile infection (CDI). Also, antibiotic treatment for CDI can eliminate potentially protective commensal bacteria, which could, in turn, facilitate Clostridium difficile reinfection.
