The World Gastroenterology Organisation has designated May 29, 2014 as this year’s World Digestive Health Day (WDHD). On this occasion, professionals across the globe will highlight gut health for the public and bring awareness to the profession of gastroenterology.
Since so much of the important research in the field is converging around microbes, this year’s WDHD topic is “Gut Microbes — Importance in Health and Disease”. According to WDHD chair Prof. Francisco Guarner, gastroenterologists have a special role in making sure this research translates into practice.
