The 7th Gut Microbiota for Health (GMFH) World Summit is set to be held in Rome, Italy, on March 10th and 11th, 2018! The event is co-organized by the Gut Microbiota & Health section of the European Society of Neurogastroenterology & Motility (ESNM), the European Society for Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (ESPGHAN), and the American Gastroenterological Association (AGA), and will feature a global group of clinical researchers and healthcare professionals presenting the latest research and clinical applications of gut microbiota science.

A scientific committee chaired by Dr. Francisco Guarner, Head of the Gastrointestinal Research Unit at Vall d’Hebron University Hospital in Barcelona (Spain), has taken care to put together a program that covers the most relevant issues in the field today.

The plenary sessions will highlight several important topics: how diet/gut microbiota interactions can affect immunity, and how gut microbiota could contribute to carcinogenesis and to the efficacy of cancer-targeting drugs. In addition, workshop sessions will cover a range of topics with a practical focus, from the use of probiotics in irritable bowel syndrome to designing microbiome studies in a clinical setting. The GMFH Summit will host a 1h30-hour special workshop, ‘Gut microbiota targets in nutrition’, on Saturday, March 10th from 2.00 – 3.30 pm, chaired by Professor of Nutrition and head of a research group at INSERM Karine Clément (France), and co-presented by Associate Professor at the Division of Gastroenterology  at McMaster University Elena Verdú.

The GMFH Summit 2018 will provide an unmatched opportunity for scientists and healthcare professionals to hear from a worldwide group of experts in the fast-moving field of gut microbiota, getting up to date on the latest science and clinical applications. The event is made possible through the support of Danone, Sanofi, and Biocodex.
